aka Kalam dhari
Shikha is an artist from Hyderabad, India making abstract botanical drawings in multiple mediums under the pseudonym Kalam Dhari meaning ‘Pen Wielder’ in Hindi.
Shikha's drawings are a visual synopsis of her musings about facets of nature that are not just aesthetic but existential, taking flowers as her medium of expression. Apart from the evident aesthete, flowers for her are about wisdom, resilience, survival, hunger, the circle of dying and living again. She looks beyond the stereotypical visualization of plant life and emphasizes the underlying biology.
Although Shikha has always been drawing and creating, there was a shift in her practice post motherhood.
